Moscow should not turn back on West

An editorial piece in The Financial Times argues that Moscow should not turn its back on the West. Vladimir Putin has returned to the presidency finding the Russian public much more restless about his regime that it used to be. He therefore needs to portray himself to the Russian people as a strongman. Foreign policy is a mere servant of this goal. However, he should tread carefully and not ignore that the cost of a hard-nosed foreign policy will ultimately be for Russia.
