How Putin is turning Russia into one big Enron

An opinion editorial in The Moscow Times by Anders Aslund, a senior fellow at the Peterson Institute for International Economics, outlines how Vladimir Putin is turning Russia into one big Enron. The article contends that many of Gazprom’s recent investment decisions may drive Gazprom into bankruptcy within a few years. It also asks why President Vladimir has allowed Rosneft to buy TNK-BP? The most plausible explanation for why Putin would allow this to happen is that Mr Putin's cronies want to rob Gazprom empty and turn Rosneft into their new slush fund. This can be the robbery of the millennium.
