Russia Is Losing Its Grip on European Energy Supply

The Huffington Post publishes an article by David Clark, Chair of the Russia Foundation, arguing that Russia is losing its grip on European energy supply. A report published last year by the Energy Research Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences estimated that the growth of unconventional gas supply could reduce Russian exports by around 20% over the next ten to fifteen years. Russia does not appear to know how to respond to this challenge. The main problem is that the system President Vladimir Putin created does not know how to let go. That may prove to be its great undoing.
